Shavkat Mirziyoyev awarded Honorary Doctorate and Professorship in Pakistan

As part of the first meeting of the Strategic Partnership Council, a ceremony was held to confer the titles of Honorary Doctor and Professor of the National University of Sciences and Technology of Pakistan on President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, the Uzbek leader’s press service reported.

It was noted that Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif presented the relevant certificate to the Uzbek president.

The titles were awarded in recognition of Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s significant contribution to social and economic reforms and education, the country’s consistent modernization, the development of science and technology, as well as the strengthening of international cooperation and academic ties.

During the ceremony, Shavkat Mirziyoyev expressed his gratitude to the Prime Minister of Pakistan, the university’s leadership, and the academic community for the high honors, and emphasized the importance of further strengthening cooperation in education and jointly training highly qualified specialists.

Founded in 1991, the National University of Sciences and Technology focuses on scientific research and innovation, training master’s and doctoral students, and conducting applied research aimed at meeting the needs of industry and the economy.

It should be recalled that Shavkat Mirziyoyev is currently in Pakistan on a state visit. Earlier, it was reported that during the visit, the Uzbek president toured the headquarters of Global Industrial and Defence Solutions, met with the Supreme Commander of the Defence Forces and Chief of the Army Staff, Field Marshal Asim Munir, and received Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ishaq Dar.

In addition, an official welcoming ceremony for the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan was held at the residence of the Prime Minister of Pakistan. Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Shehbaz Sharif also held talks in a narrow format and chaired the first meeting of the Strategic Partnership Council at the highest level. They took part in a ceremony to name one of Islamabad’s streets and a newly established park after Zahiriddin Muhammad Babur. Following the meeting of the Strategic Partnership Council, Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Shehbaz Sharif signed a Joint Declaration.
