Tashkent Street and Babur Park to be established in Pakistan’s capital

As part of the state visit of President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Pakistan, a ceremony was held in Islamabad to name one of the city’s streets after Tashkent and a newly developed park after Zahiriddin Muhammad Babur, the press service of the Uzbek president reported.

According to the press service, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif emphasized that the decision reflects the close historical and cultural ties between the two countries and once again confirms the strategic level of Uzbekistan–Pakistan multifaceted partnership.

It was also noted that Tashkent Street and the new park bearing the name of Zahiriddin Muhammad Babur will serve as a vivid symbol of the firm mutual commitment to further strengthening the bonds of friendship and goodwill between the peoples of the two countries.

Earlier, it was reported that President Mirziyoyev is currently paying a state visit to Pakistan. As part of the visit, the Uzbek leader visited the headquarters of Global Industrial and Defence Solutions, held a meeting with Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff and Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, Field Marshal Asim Munir, and received Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ishaq Dar. A formal welcoming ceremony was also held for the Uzbek president at the residence of the Prime Minister of Pakistan. In addition, Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Shehbaz Sharif held talks in a restricted format and convened the first meeting of the High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council.
