We will enter Syria too!

Local entrepreneurs are expanding into new markets at the initiative of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan. After Iraq and the United Arab Emirates, attention has now turned to Syria.

From February 11 to 16, members of the Federation of Syrian Chambers of Commerce visited Uzbekistan. The meetings were aimed at expanding trade and economic cooperation and strengthening mutually beneficial ties. The visit followed agreements reached during a trip by Davron Vahobov, Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan, to Syria on December 28, 2025.

The composition of the delegation highlighted the importance of the visit. It included not only business representatives but also major figures in Syria’s market, including the deputy minister of economy and industry and leaders and members of several regional chambers of commerce.

The first part of the program focused on visits to industrial enterprises and an introduction to the quality of products manufactured in Uzbekistan.

“We, as entrepreneurs, want to encourage imports from your country to ours and further develop this direction through cooperation and mutual ties. As you know, connections and routes are essential for traders. We see this visit as a channel to motivate businesses so that each side can be active in its field and build strong links between us,” a Syrian entrepreneur said.

Given Syria’s high demand for food imports, the delegation showed particular interest in Uzbek confectionery and sweets producers. Representatives not only learned about the companies and brands but also assessed the quality, taste, and uniqueness of the products firsthand.

“Syria has a strategic location between Turkey, Iraq, and the Gulf region, particularly Saudi Arabia. Therefore, it is an important starting point for the movement and distribution of goods,” another entrepreneur noted.

The final stop of the visit was an exhibition of construction materials manufacturers, where participants learned about the production of windows and a range of finished construction and household products.

Overall, the visit demonstrated a shift from dialogue to real cooperation and from agreements to concrete projects between Uzbekistan and Syria.
