Tourism complex to be built on reservoir shore in Surkhandarya

The construction of an ecotourism complex with a total area of 15.7 hectares and an estimated cost of 140 billion soums is planned on the territory of the “Southern  Surkhan” reservoir in the Kumkurgan district of Surkhandarya region, the regional administration’s press service reported.

It is stated that measures are planned to preserve the natural environment, create new green spaces, construct roads and infrastructure in line with ecological standards, and introduce a wastewater treatment system within the framework of the project.

"Efforts are underway to develop ecotourism by making effective use of mountainous recreational areas, reservoirs, lakes, and riverbanks, while ensuring that no harm is caused to nature in Surkhandarya region", said in a statement.

The governor of the region, Ulugbek Qosimov, reviewed the presentation of the project, which had been improved based on proposals and recommendations. The site was inspected, and instructions were given to begin construction in a systematic and phased manner within a short period, in accordance with the established requirements.

It is worth noting that Azerbaijani singer and businessman Emin Agalarov presented to President Shavkat Mirziyoyev the project for the construction of the “Sea Breeze Uzbekistan” international tourism center on the shore of the Chorvoq Reservoir on April 14 of this year. Afterwards, the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan adopted a resolution regarding the project. According to the resolution, 577 hectares of land in the Bustonliq district of the Tashkent region, previously returned to the authority of the Bustonliq district administration and classified as vacant land, was leased for 25 years directly to “Sea Breeze Uzbekistan” LLC, established with the participation of “Agalarov Development” LLC (Azerbaijan). A year-round resort complex worth USD 5 billion is planned to be built there between 2025 and 2035.
