Court official caught taking bribe in Surkhandarya

The head of the personnel department of the Arbitration Court demanded $1,000 from a citizen in exchange for arranging employment through his acquaintances in Surkhandarya, the State Security Service reported.

According to reports, the head of the personnel department of the Arbitration court under the Mediation and Legal advisory service abused his official position by demanding $1,000 from a resident of Termez. In return, he promised to use his alleged high-ranking acquaintances to secure the citizen a job as an inspector at the regional Customs department.

In a joint operation by the Surkhandarya regional department of the State Security Service and the Termez city Prosecutor’s Office, the individual was caught red-handed while receiving the requested money, with material evidence seized at the scene.

At present, a criminal case has been initiated against him under Article 168, part 3, paragraph ’’v’’ (fraud) and Articles 28 and 211, part 1 (bribery) of the Criminal Code. He has been placed in custody as a preventive measure, and investigative proceedings are ongoing.

It is worth noting that earlier, an assistant to a judge of the Civil case judicial panel of the Andijan regional court was caught receiving a bribe of 3.8 million soums.
