Residents caught storing weapons illegally at home in Surkhandarya (video)

On April 3–5 this year, residents who had been illegally storing weapons in their homes were detained in the Boysun and Sariosiyo districts of Surkhandarya region. This was reported by the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

According to the report, on April 3, during the “Urgent 40 Days” operational preventive campaign, officers of the regional Internal Affairs Department’s criminal investigation service conducted an operation in Boysun district. During the inspection of a 57-year-old man’s property, a 12-gauge hunting rifle, six live rounds, and 85 empty cartridges that had been illegally stored were discovered and documented in accordance with procedure.

Additionally, on April 5, another case was uncovered during an operation in Sariosiyo district. When inspecting the livestock shed of a 58-year-old resident, officers found a 28-gauge hunting rifle and seven empty cartridges being stored illegally.

It was reported that criminal cases have been initiated in both instances under Article 248, Part 1 of the Criminal Code (illegal handling of firearms, ammunition, main components of firearms, explosives, or explosive devices), and investigative actions are currently underway.

It is worth noting that earlier, individuals illegally storing weapons and ammunition were also detained during an operation in Tashkent.
