One drowns after boat capsizes in reservoir in Surkhandarya (video)

One person drowned after a boat capsized in a reservoir in Kumkurgan district of Surkhandarya region. The regional emergency department reported the incident.

According to the department, at around 5:30 p.m. on June 1 this year, the regional emergency department received a report through the 112 system that a boat had capsized in the South Surkhan reservoir in Kumkurgan district.

When rescuers arrived at the scene, it was found that four of the five people who had fallen into the reservoir had managed to swim to shore. One person was unable to get out of the water and drowned. Rescuers immediately launched a large-scale search operation in the reservoir.

The Kumkurgan district prosecutor’s office, the internal affairs department and the emergency department are currently investigating the cause of the incident at the scene.

Earlier, on May 31, an electric moped carrying eight people fell into a canal in Pakhtachi district of Samarkand region. Four of the eight people were rescued by residents, while the remaining four died.
