Practical efforts to implement a project for the construction of a modern tunnel at Taxtaqoracha Pass are continuing in stages, the administration of Kitob district in Kashkadarya region said.
According to the report, a meeting was held at the Kitob district administration between district governor Rustam G‘afurov and representatives of Japan’s prominent international organization, JICA (Japan International Cooperation Agency).
During the talks, the sides reviewed project proposals and presentations prepared by foreign companies for the construction of a 7-kilometer tunnel at the pass. They also discussed in detail the introduction of modern engineering solutions, the creation of infrastructure that meets safety requirements, and ways to make transport links more convenient.
At the end of the meeting, the parties agreed to continue cooperation on the project in a consistent manner.
It is worth noting that on July 11 this year, Transport Minister Ilhom Mahkamov, responding to a lawmaker’s question during a parliamentary session, said an agreement was expected to be signed on the construction of a toll tunnel through Taxtaqoracha Pass. According to the minister, during his visit to Samarkand and Kashkadarya regions, the president instructed the Transport Ministry to build a 7-kilometer toll tunnel at Taxtaqoracha Pass.
