On October 6, a baby was born at the Gafur Gulom station of the Tashkent metro, the Tashkent Metro State Enterprise reported.
According to the report, during her shift, duty officer for train dispatch and reception Naima Mahamadjonova was informed by an internal affairs officer at the station crossing about the condition of a female passenger in need of urgent help.
Mahamadjonova immediately assessed the situation and, applying the special knowledge and skills she had gained in service, provided first aid and closely assisted the woman in safely delivering her child on the spot. She also provided the necessary support to ensure the newborn’s health, including tying the umbilical cord and helping the baby initiate its breathing reflex.
During this time, ambulance services and the woman’s relatives were called. Until the arrival of medical personnel — approximately 10 minutes later — the station staff monitored the condition of the mother and baby and ensured their safety.
The mother and baby are now in good health and have been taken to a hospital.
It is worth noting that on August 8 of this year, a female passenger also gave birth at the “20 January” metro station in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan.
