DFC may open regional office in Tashkent

On November 6, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received Scott Nathan, Chief Executive Officer of the U.S. International Development Finance Corporation (DFC), as part of his official business program during his working visit to Washington, D.C., the presidential press service reported.
The DFC is the U.S. government’s development finance institution, focused on mobilizing private capital for infrastructure and industrial projects in developing countries. During the meeting, the sides noted with satisfaction the growing high-level dialogue and expanding trade and investment cooperation. According to the statement, major joint initiatives are being developed in energy, critical minerals, finance, transport, agriculture, and information technology.
Special emphasis was placed on deepening practical cooperation. The discussion covered concrete steps to accelerate the establishment of a joint investment platform to finance priority projects, support small businesses, and open a regional DFC office in Tashkent.
President Mirziyoyev underscored the importance of the corporation’s involvement in infrastructure projects implemented through public-private partnerships.
Earlier, President Mirziyoyev also held talks with John Jovanovich, President of the U.S. Export–Import Bank.
