Video of suspected drug use in Tashkent sparks police probe

A video circulating on social media showing a man injecting himself with an unknown substance has prompted an official response from the Tashkent City Main Department of Internal Affairs.

According to the department, the incident was promptly investigated after the footage gained public attention.

The investigation revealed that on May 9 at approximately 17:00, a citizen identified as B.G., born in 1979, was seen injecting a liquid substance into himself in a neighborhood located in the Shaykhontohur district of the capital.

Authorities have stated that a legal assessment is currently underway regarding the circumstances surrounding the incident.

“A legal decision will be made based on the results of the investigation,” the department’s official statement reads.

It should be noted that this is not the first drug-related case in the capital. Earlier, a 20-year-old man involved in the distribution of narcotic and psychotropic substances in Tashkent was sentenced to seven years in prison.
