A total of 32 kilograms of narcotic substances smuggled from Tajikistan have been seized in Fergana region, according to the State Security Service.
During a special operational operation conducted in the region, law enforcement officers inspected the residence of an individual in Kokand who was involved in the trafficking of narcotics smuggled from Tajikistan.
As a result, 4 kilograms 572 grams of opium and 1 kilogram 58 grams of hashish were found in the kitchen of the house and were seized in accordance with procedural requirements. In addition, based on a geolocation sent via WhatsApp by Tajik drug traffickers, 9 kilograms 980 grams of opium previously hidden in Dangara district were recovered.
It was also established that another individual, a resident of Kokand, had assisted in processing narcotic substances and preparing them for consumption by setting up a drug laboratory at his residence. During the search, 7 kilograms 226 grams of opium were seized from the premises.
In another case, a Lacetti vehicle driven by a local resident was stopped and inspected in Kokand. Officers discovered 5 kilograms 22 grams of opium in the vehicle, which had reportedly been purchased earlier for $34,000.
Further operational measures led to the arrest of the Kokand resident who sold the narcotics, as well as his accomplice, a citizen of Tajikistan.
Additionally, 2 kilograms 362 grams of opium were seized from the Tajik citizen’s residence in Uzbekistan district.
In a separate incident recorded in Kokand, a Nexia vehicle was stopped and inspected in the presence of witnesses. During the inspection, 982 grams of hashish were found in a bag belonging to a passenger.
It was established that the individual had retrieved the narcotic substance from a concealed location in Kokand where it had previously been hidden by Tajik drug couriers.
Meanwhile, during an operational operation in Fergana city, another individual was caught red-handed while selling 989 grams of hashish smuggled from Tajikistan to a buyer for 150 million soums.
Criminal cases have been initiated in all instances under Articles 246 (smuggling) and 273 (illegal preparation, acquisition, storage, and distribution of narcotic drugs, their analogues, or psychotropic substances with intent to distribute) of the Criminal Code. A preventive measure in the form of detention has been applied. Investigative actions are currently underway.
It is worth noting that earlier, individuals engaged in the sale of narcotic substances via social media were detained in Kashkadarya region.
