A new higher education institution is being launched in Uzbekistan as part of expanding international cooperation. On 26 November 2025, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed a resolution titled “On Measures to Establish the Uzbek–French University.”
According to the resolution, the Uzbek–French University will be created and will operate in line with the requirements of Uzbekistan’s legislation and the recommendations of the consortium of French universities.
Educational programmes will be introduced gradually. The university will initially begin admitting students to master’s programmes. Bachelor’s and doctoral programmes will be launched in subsequent stages.
The resolution also stipulates that a special preparatory course will be organized for applicants wishing to enter the university. The educational process will be conducted on state-funded scholarships and tuition-fee contracts.
Graduates of the university will receive the university’s diploma and/or a diploma from the relevant French university within the consortium whose programmes are accredited in the French Republic. These diplomas will be recognized in Uzbekistan.
Earlier, it was reported that the number of foreign students coming to Uzbekistan for education during January–August of this year had been announced. In the first eight months of the year, 14,216 foreign students arrived in Uzbekistan to pursue their studies. The highest number came from Turkmenistan, with 4,603 students.
