Uzbekistan’s delegation has departed for Italy to take part in the Milan–Cortina 2026 Winter Olympic Games. This was reported by the press service of the National Olympic Committee.
According to the results of the qualification cycle, Dmitry Chigirev and Ekaterina Geinish earned Olympic quotas in pair figure skating, Medet Nazarov qualified in alpine skiing events including slalom and giant slalom, while Daniil Eybog secured a place in the short track 500-meter event. However, during the preparation period for the Olympics, Dmitry Chigirev sustained an injury and was unable to recover in time for the competition. As a result, Uzbekistan’s delegation will compete only in the alpine skiing and short track programs.
The upcoming Winter Olympic Games will be held from February 6 to 22 this year in the Italian cities of Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo.
It is worth noting that earlier, ahead of the Olympic Games, two cases of coronavirus infection were detected within the Australian national team.
