Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan will host the 2027 FIFA U-20 World Cup. This was reported by the Football Association of Uzbekistan.
It is noted that on October 2, the latest meeting of the FIFA Council was held. One of the key issues on the agenda was determining the hosts of the 2027 FIFA U-20 World Cup. It was decided that Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan will jointly host the youth World Cup. This tournament is considered the second most prestigious competition organized by FIFA, after the senior World Cup among national teams.
“In recent years, our country has gained significant experience by hosting many major international competitions. In particular, the high-level organization of the FIFA Futsal World Cup held in Uzbekistan in 2024 was recognized by the international football community. These events also provided an opportunity for Uzbek specialists to develop strong expertise and capabilities in organizing major international tournaments. By 2027, the most talented young footballers in the world will gather in Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan to participate in the FIFA U-20 World Cup. Our country, as always, is ready to attract global attention with its hospitality, professional approach, dedication to football, and, of course, the passion of its football fans,” the report states.
It is worth noting that earlier, Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan had submitted a joint application to FIFA to host the 2027 U-20 World Cup.
