Uzbekistan plans to launch its first scientific and technical satellite into space by 2028. The announcement was made by Muhiddin Ibrohimov, Deputy Director of the Uzbekcosmos agency, in an interview with "Kazinform".

According to Ibrohimov, seven Uzbek students will be sent to Japan to learn satellite manufacturing as part of this initiative.

“This year, seven students from our country will begin studying for a master’s degree at the Kyushu Institute of Technology in Japan. During their studies, they will be responsible for developing a satellite project, assembling the satellite, and launching it into space. If they begin this year, they are expected to graduate by 2027. At the same time, we must consider that launching a satellite requires contracts with launch service providers. According to our plan, Uzbekistan will send its own satellite into space by 2028,” Ibrohimov stated.

He also noted that Uzbekistan is currently in talks with SpaceX.

“Countries around the world have already scheduled their satellite launches and placed orders, often two to three years in advance. Additionally, the number of available rocket launches is limited. This must also be taken into consideration,” said the Uzbekcosmos representative.
