From January to September this year, Uzbekistan exported natural gas worth approximately $629.8 million to China via pipeline, TASS reported, citing the General Administration of Customs of the People’s Republic of China.

According to the data, Russia remains the leading supplier of natural gas to China, exporting the resource worth $7.29 billion during the same period.

Turkmenistan ranks second among China’s gas suppliers. The country, which for many years had held the top position by a significant margin, saw its pipeline gas exports to China decrease by 12.7 percent in January–September, totaling $6.46 billion. Myanmar follows with $1.18 billion, Kazakhstan with more than $854.7 million, and Uzbekistan with around $629.8 million.

In recent years, Chinese customs authorities have stopped disclosing the physical volumes of pipeline gas purchased from other countries.

According to the General Administration of Customs of China, in 2024 the country imported pipeline gas worth $21.1 billion, which is 8.6 percent higher compared to 2023. Gas supplies from Russia increased by 25 percent, reaching $8.03 billion.

Earlier, it was reported that Russia sees great potential in increasing gas exports to Uzbekistan, including in the form of liquefied natural gas.
