If production by Uzbek enterprises is established in industrial zones in Qatar, it will open access to the duty-free market of the Gulf Arab states with a combined population of around 60 million. This was discussed on January 15 during a video conference meeting chaired by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev on the activities of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Uzbekistan’s diplomatic missions abroad.
It was noted that as a result of reforms, a strong class of large entrepreneurs has formed in recent years. The time has now come to support these businesses in placing their projects in promising countries and, through this, rapidly entering new markets.
As an example, Qatar has introduced attractive tax incentives for investors in its free economic zones and provides subsidies covering 20–30 percent of electricity, water, and other utility costs.
If local enterprises establish production facilities in Qatar’s industrial zones, this would enable duty-free access to the markets of the Gulf Arab states, which together have a population of about 60 million.
Uzbekistan’s ambassador to Qatar and other relevant officials were instructed to work closely with domestic enterprises and begin implementing such projects.
