From the beginning of 2025 to date, five deaths have been recorded on flights arriving in and departing from Uzbekistan. This was reported by Uzbekistan Airports.

In 2024, 46 passengers were denied boarding at Uzbek airports due to medical reasons. In the first six months of 2025, that number increased to 61.

“Most adverse events occur during the flight, so passengers should be aware of potential risks in advance and adhere to medical recommendations against flying,” said Sevara Solihova, Head of the Medical Service Development Department at Uzbekistan Airports.

She noted that in 2024, 14 deaths were recorded—11 occurred on board aircraft, and 3 in the arrivals hall of Tashkent International Airport. So far in 2025, five deaths have been reported, all of which occurred on board before the planes reached their destinations.

The company urged passengers not to fly under the following medical conditions:

  •  Recent surgical procedures
  •  Acute cardiovascular diseases (e.g., heart attack, unstable angina)
  •  Stroke or other acute neurological disorders
  •  Pneumothorax, severe bronchial asthma, or pneumonia
  •  Thromboembolism, active bleeding, or severe anemia
  •  Barotrauma of the ears, nasal passages, or eyes
  •  Late-stage pregnancy, especially with complications

It should also be recalled that on July 19, a female passenger on a flight from Istanbul to Tashkent gave birth to a baby boy mid-flight.
