Uzbekistan has finalized bilateral negotiations with Switzerland on its accession to the World Trade Organization (WTO). The announcement was made by the Presidential Representative on the WTO, Azizbek O‘runov, on his LinkedIn page.
According to O‘runov, on July 21, a protocol marking the completion of the negotiations was signed in Geneva. He expressed his gratitude to the teams of both countries for their dedicated and constructive efforts.
“Only a few countries left! The long list is gradually getting smaller—the countdown has begun!” O‘runov wrote.
Switzerland is now the 24th trading partner with which Tashkent has reached an agreement in preparation for WTO accession.
It is worth recalling that at the end of last year, Uzbekistan completed bilateral negotiations with Pakistan and Thailand. On December 19, Uzbekistan and the United States signed a protocol on completing negotiations for bilateral market access as part of the WTO accession process. The document was signed by Deputy Prime Minister Jamshid Khojayev and US Trade Representative Katherine Tai.
Additionally, last month, Uzbekistan officially concluded bilateral negotiations with the United Kingdom on joining the World Trade Organization.
