On February 5, the governments of Uzbekistan and the United States signed a memorandum on cooperation in the field of critical minerals and rare earth elements. Uzbekistan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Bakhtiyor Saidov announced this on his Telegram channel.

“Together with U.S. Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau, we signed a memorandum of understanding between the Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Government of the United States on ensuring supply chain resilience in the extraction and processing of critical minerals and rare earth elements,” Saidov said.

According to him, critical minerals are viewed not only as an economic opportunity but also as a key area for responsible cooperation and long-term sustainable development.

The memorandum was signed on the sidelines of the Ministerial Meeting on Critical Minerals held in Washington, D.C., which was also attended by Bakhtiyor Saidov.

“We took part in the Ministerial Meeting on Critical Minerals dedicated to pressing issues. This platform brought partners together to discuss the future of sustainable and secure critical minerals supply chains,” the foreign minister said.

Saidov noted that Uzbekistan has significant potential in this sector and is firmly committed to developing its industry in line with the highest international standards, including transparency, environmental responsibility, and production principles focused on value creation.

“We reaffirm our readiness to further deepen cooperation with international partners, attract advanced technologies and investments, strengthen the resilience of supply chains, and contribute to global efforts to support the transition to clean energy,” Saidov added.
