Project portfolio between Uzbekistan and UAE reaches 20 billion dollars

On December 5, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received a delegation led by Suhail Al Mazrouei, Minister of Energy and Infrastructure of the United Arab Emirates. The meeting was reported by the president’s press service.
The meeting was also attended by Mohamed Jameel Al Ramahi, CEO of Masdar; Yousif Al Ali, CEO of Etihad Water & Electricity; and Ahmad Al Shamsi, CEO of TAQA Water Solutions.
At the beginning of the meeting, the minister conveyed the greetings of UAE President Sheikh Mohamed Al Nahyan; Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai Sheikh Mohammed Al Maktoum; Vice President Sheikh Mansour Al Nahyan; and Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi Sheikh Khalid Al Nahyan to the leader of Uzbekistan.
The sides discussed further strengthening the friendship and strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and the UAE. It was noted with satisfaction that cooperation is rapidly developing in all areas. Mutual trade, joint ventures, and the number of direct flights continue to grow. The portfolio of joint projects has reached 20 billion dollars.
The parties reviewed measures to prepare and promote projects in priority sectors such as transport and logistics, food production, mining and metallurgy, energy, and other key areas. In recent years alone, six projects worth 1.5 billion dollars have been implemented across Uzbekistan in partnership with Masdar.
Today, a new solar power plant and energy storage system were launched in Bukhara region, while construction began on similar facilities worth more than 600 million dollars in Kashkadarya region.
Leaders of UAE companies briefed the president on plans to build wind power plants and energy storage capacities, as well as hydroelectric facilities, and reported on the progress of construction of water treatment plants.
