Uzbekistan and Tajikistan leaders launch new joint projects

On March 26, following the first meeting of the Supreme Interstate Council, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, and the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon, took part in a ceremony to launch major cooperation projects. This was reported by the press service of the Uzbek leader.
According to the report, the heads of state initiated 10 joint projects. These include the establishment of furniture and leather goods enterprises in Tajikistan, the expansion of household appliance production, the development of textile capacities, the construction of residential complexes and commercial facilities in Tashkent, and the launch of canned food production in the Fergana region.

In addition, production facilities for dairy products have been launched in Andijan region, while fruit juice and metal briquette production capacities have been commissioned in Surkhandarya region.

A ceremonial event was also held to name one of the streets in New Tashkent after the city of Dushanbe.
The presidents of Uzbekistan and Tajikistan expressed confidence that the implementation of the presented projects would give strong momentum to further expanding trade and economic cooperation between the two countries.
Earlier, Emomali Rahmon arrived in Tashkent on a state visit. The distinguished guest was welcomed at Tashkent International Airport by the President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev. An official welcoming ceremony for Emomali Rahmon was also held at the Kuksaroy residence.
Later, at the Kuksaroy residence, Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Emomali Rahmon held talks in a narrow format and conducted the first meeting of the Supreme Interstate Council.
