Energy resources worth 96 billion soums stolen in Uzbekistan in one month

In July, illegal use of energy resources caused 96 billion soums in damage to the system, according to the Inspectorate for Supervision of the Use of Electricity, Oil Products, and Gas.

The Uzenergoinspektsiya, together with law enforcement agencies, identified 279 cases of illegal consumption of energy resources during monitoring activities over the past month.

As a result, a total of 96.086 billion soums in damages were calculated—54.9 billion soums from the theft of 27.1 million kWh of electricity and 41.1 billion soums from the theft of 12.6 million cubic meters of natural gas. Additionally, 485 administrative cases were opened for violations of energy usage regulations.

Measures were taken against the violators in accordance with the law, and the relevant documents were handed over to law enforcement agencies.

It is worth recalling that earlier in the city of Termiz, Surkhandarya region, a construction materials warehouse was found to be illegally using natural gas worth 3.9 billion soums.
