Uzbekistan may host World Para Athletics Championships

On May 29, World Para Athletics President Paul Fitzgerald visited Tashkent to assess the country’s readiness to host the World Para Athletics Championships. The visit was reported by the National News Agency of Uzbekistan (UzA).
During his visit, Fitzgerald toured the Uzbekistan Athletics Federation stadium, examining its infrastructure, including running tracks, jumping and throwing sectors, interior facilities, and technical equipment.
Discussions were held on the possibility of Uzbekistan hosting the 2027 World Para Athletics Championships — a key event that will serve as a direct qualifier for the Los Angeles 2028 Paralympic Games.
Fitzgerald also inspected the accommodations and services prepared for para-athletes, including the Olympic Village, hotel, and restaurants intended to host international participants during the championships. He reviewed the development project of the upcoming Paralympic Center located within the sports complex.
At the conclusion of the visit, Fitzgerald expressed his confidence in Uzbekistan’s ability to host the world-class competition, highlighting the country's growing commitment to para-sports and international athletic standards.
