More boys born than girls in Uzbekistan

In the first nine months of this year, more boys than girls were born in Uzbekistan, according to the State Committee on Statistics.

Data from the Civil Registry Offices show that from January to September 2025, a total of 664.6 thousand live births were registered across the country. Of these, 343.6 thousand (51.7 percent) were boys and 321 thousand (48.3 percent) were girls.

By region, 319.3 thousand births (48 percent) were registered in urban areas, while 345.3 thousand (52 percent) occurred in rural areas.

During this period, there were an average of 23.5 births per 1,000 people.

Earlier, it was reported that as of October 1, 2025, Uzbekistan’s population had reached 38.069 million. Of this number, 18.896 million (49.6 percent) were women and 19.172 million (50.4 percent) were men. The population increased by 713.7 thousand, or 1.9 percent, compared to the same period last year.
