On January 9, reports circulated on social media claiming that a number of border customs posts in Uzbekistan were being abolished. The State Customs Committee has commented on the situation.

According to the statement, under the presidential decree dated December 17, 2025, titled “On measures to further simplify customs administration and foreign trade procedures and improve their efficiency,” inspections of vehicles at six customs posts and checkpoints will be carried out on a trial basis by border troops until December 31, 2026.

The list includes the following customs posts and checkpoints:

  • Bobotog customs checkpoint;
  • Uchturgan border customs post;
  • Pop border customs post;
  • Rovot border customs post;
  • Rishton border customs post;
  • Bekobod Avto border customs post.

It was emphasized that this does not mean the closure of these customs posts. Rather, it involves the transfer of certain customs control procedures to border troops as part of efforts to reduce overlapping functions.

“Please do not mislead the public with inaccurate and unverified information. These border customs posts will continue to operate,” the statement said.
