Attempt to smuggle medicines from Uzbekistan to Tajikistan foiled

An attempt to illegally transport medicines to Tajikistan has been prevented, the State Security Service reported.
According to the information, servicemen of the State Security Service Border Troops and customs officers conducted an inspection at the Farhod border customs post in the city of Bekobod. During the inspection, a Lochin motorcycle driven by a local resident who was leaving for the Republic of Tajikistan was checked in accordance with established procedures.
As a result of the inspection, medicines hidden among food products in the trailer were discovered. The undeclared pharmaceuticals, with an estimated value of 1.05 billion soums, included immunoglobulin, ferritin, and other medicines, totaling 21 different types. The items were seized and documented in accordance with procedural requirements.
It was reported that an expert examination of the seized medicines has been ordered, and a preliminary investigation into the incident is currently underway.
Earlier, individuals attempting to sell narcotic substances in the city of Nukus, Karakalpakstan, were detained with material evidence.
