Heatwave alert: Uzhydromet issues nationwide weather warning

The Center of Hydrometeorological Services (Uzhydromet) has issued an urgent weather warning for May 14–16 due to expected extreme heat across Uzbekistan.
According to the report, on May 14, temperatures in the Republic of Karakalpakstan, as well as the Khorezm, Bukhara, Navoi, Kashkadarya, and Surkhandarya regions, will rise to 39–41°C during the day. On May 15–16, similar temperatures are expected across most parts of the country, with southern and desert regions experiencing even higher temperatures of up to 42–43°C.

In addition to the heat, strong winds are forecast. On May 14–15, wind speeds in northern and desert regions are expected to reach 15–18 m/s, accompanied by dust. On May 16–17, similar conditions may occur in other parts of the country. In some areas on May 17, wind gusts could reach 20–22 m/s.
