Uzhydromet issues urgent warning

Due to the rainfall expected on April 7–9 this year, mudflows and flash floods may occur in the foothill and mountainous areas of the country, Uzhydromet has reported.

According to the agency, such risks are possible in the following areas:

  • In Kashkadarya region: Yakkabag, Dehkanabad, Chiroqchi, Kitab, Shahrisabz, Kamashi, and Guzor districts.
  • In Surkhandarya region: Sariosiyo, Uzun, Oltinsoy, Denov, Boysun, Sherabad, Shurchi, Kumkurgan, and Muzrabot districts.
  • In Samarkand region: Urgut, Samarkand, Bulungur, Nurobod, Kushrabot, Kattakurgan, Payarik, Jomboy, and Ishtikhan districts.
  • In Navoi region: Khatirchi, Navbahor, Nurota, Konimex, and Karmana districts.
  • In Jizzakh region: Zaamin, Bakhmal, Gallaaral, Sharof Rashidov, Forish, and Yangiabad districts.
  • In Tashkent region: Ohangaron, Bostanliq, Parkent, Piskent, Urtachirchiq, and Yukorichirchiq districts, as well as the cities of Angren and Almalyk.
  • In Namangan region: Pop, Kosonsoy, Chortoq, Chust, Namangan, and Yangikurgan districts.
  • In Fergana region: Sokh, Shohimardon, Fergana, and Besharik districts.
  • In Andijan region: Andijan, Asaka, Jalaquduq, Kurgantepa, Pakhtaabad, Izboskan, Khojaabad, and Marhamat districts, as well as the city of Khanabad.

Residents of foothill and mountainous areas, holidaymakers, and drivers traveling through mountain regions are urged to take precautionary measures.

There is also a possibility of rainwater accumulation in some parts of the country, which could lead to localized flooding.
