Discussions have emerged on social media regarding a watch worn by Central Bank Chairman Timur Ishmetov, with some users claiming it is a €27,000 timepiece. The accessory in question can be seen in an interview he gave to business journalist Ryan Chilcote in 2021, when he was serving as Finance Minister. QALAMPIR.UZ contacted the regulator’s press service to clarify the information.

According to the statement, the watch worn by Ishmetov is not a €27,710 Patek Philippe Calatrava, as claimed, but a Tissot watch. Its price in 2021 was estimated at around $300–350, and as of 2026 it is sold for approximately $440.

“The circulated information does not correspond to reality,” the regulator’s press service said.

The public and media outlets were also urged to refrain from spreading inaccurate information.

It is worth noting that earlier, Sherzod Kudbiyev, head of the National Committee for Sustainable Development of Urbanization and the Housing Market, drew attention after attending a presidential meeting wearing a Breguet watch reportedly worth around $50,000. He later commented on the matter, stating that while the watch was personally meaningful, public officials should remain modest regardless.

Previously, Minister of Culture Ozodbek Nazarbekov also attracted attention after attending a youth meeting in Andijan wearing footwear from the Hermès brand, valued at more than $1,200 in European and U.S. markets.
