Iraq became the final, 48th team to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup after defeating Bolivia 2-1 in the decisive intercontinental playoff match.

Graham Arnold’s side started brightly and opened the scoring in the ninth minute. Ali Al-Hamadi found the net after a corner kick. However, Bolivia equalized before halftime, with Moises Paniagua responding with a precise finish.

The winning goal came in the second half, when team captain Aymen Hussein converted a cross from the wing with a first-time finish.
