On August 7, American megastar Jennifer Lopez performed at the Bunyodkor Stadium in Tashkent. A total of 25,000 tickets were sold for the event, with over 15,000—approximately 68%—bought by foreign visitors, according to the “Axborot 24” program.
Among foreign buyers, Russian citizens purchased 7,500 tickets, while more than 2,500 were bought by citizens of Kazakhstan. The remaining tickets were purchased by people from Europe and other countries.
Ticket prices ranged from 1 million to 4.2 million soums. Many foreign attendees also purchased tour packages for four- to six-day trips to Uzbekistan.
Following the concert, the singer’s revealing outfit sparked criticism on social media. In response to these discussions, Alisher Kadyrov, deputy of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis and head of the “Milliy Tiklanish” democratic party faction, urged that the same tolerance shown toward Lopez should be extended to religious women. He also called for an end to forcing women who wear headscarves to remove them for passport photos.
