Starting yesterday, April 1, state medical institutions have been switched to a five-day workweek. This is stipulated in the president’s November 9, 2025, resolution “On Measures to Support Medical and Pharmaceutical Workers.”
To ensure the uninterrupted operation of healthcare facilities, the new system предусматривает duty-based work on holidays and weekends. As part of the implementation of this document, the Ministry of Health on April 1 approved a temporary procedure for organizing a five-day workweek in state medical institutions through a relevant order.
According to the new rules, effective from April 1 this year, weekly working hours for medical personnel must not exceed 36 hours.
Reduced working hours will apply to employees working in harmful or hazardous conditions.
Jobs involving high mental and emotional strain will also be limited to no more than 36 hours per week.
For non-medical staff, the working week will total 40 hours.
Working hours at polyclinics and family doctor points will be as follows:
- Monday to Friday: 08:00 to 20:00
- Saturday: 08:00 to 14:00 on a duty basis
In areas where the new healthcare model has been introduced, the main working hours will run from 08:00 to 16:00, followed by additional duty hours from 16:00 to 20:00.
Duty shifts will be organized in accordance with Ministry Order No. 254. Salaries will be preserved and will not be reduced. Internal documents and employment contracts will be revised accordingly.
Inpatient facilities will maintain permanent duty shifts. Shifts and on-call duties will be distributed fairly.
