A head of a cadastral office in one of the districts of Karakalpakstan was caught with $2,000, the State Security Service of Uzbekistan reported.
According to the report, the district cadastral office head was detained by officers of the State Security Service while receiving $2,000 in bribe money from a citizen as material evidence.
Investigators found that the official, born in 1987, had promised to legalize and issue cadastral documents for a building constructed on a 132-square-meter land plot that had been unlawfully occupied. The property was previously ordered for demolition under a 2024 court ruling in a civil case.
A criminal case has been opened against the official, and investigative actions are ongoing.
Earlier, a senior inspector from the preventive unit of the Internal Affairs Department in Tashkent’s Uchtepa district was also detained while receiving $10,000 from a citizen.
