Cadastral officials detained with $9,000 in bribes in Kashkadarya

Three individuals were detained on suspicion of bribery in the Karshi and Shahrisabz districts of Kashkadarya Region, according to the State Security Service of Uzbekistan.

According to the report, a citizen born in 2000 had illegally occupied a 12-sotix land plot and was subsequently fined 82 million soums. A leading inspector from the Karshi district department of the Cadastral Agency of Uzbekistan allegedly demanded $2,000 through his contacts to cancel the fine and arrange cadastral documents for the land plot. The suspect was detained with material evidence while receiving the money.

In a second case, a 59-year-old individual previously convicted of fraud and an employee of the Shahrisabz district branch of the State Cadastral Chamber of Uzbekistan were found to have acted in collusion. They allegedly demanded $7,000 in exchange for arranging the transfer of a 9-sotix land plot belonging to a local farming enterprise into the name of a private company engaged in construction, using their official connections.

The suspects were detained by law enforcement officers while receiving an advance payment of $4,000.

Criminal cases have been initiated in both incidents, and investigative actions are currently underway.

It is worth noting that earlier, an employee of the Ministry of Emergency Situations was also detained on bribery charges.
