A pharmacy selling potent medicines without a doctor’s prescription has been identified in the Hazorasp district of Khorezm region. The Department for Combating Economic Crimes under the Prosecutor General’s Office reported the incident.
According to the report, during an operation conducted by officers of the department’s Hazorasp district division, a pharmacist identified as G.Kh. at the “H.D.D.” LLC pharmacy was caught red-handed while selling the medicine Omeprazole to a citizen, O.A., without a doctor’s prescription. The evidence was seized at the scene.
In addition, a pre-investigation review revealed a shortage of 2,846 units of 10 types of medicines containing potent substances. These medicines, which are subject to strict accounting and intended to be dispensed to patients only on the basis of prescriptions, were under the material responsibility of the pharmacy manager.
A criminal case has been initiated under Article 271 of the Criminal Code, which covers the illegal acquisition of narcotic drugs, their analogues, or psychotropic substances. Investigative actions are currently underway.
It is worth recalling that in December 2025, Uzbekistan introduced the Electronic Prescription system in Tashkent city and 15 districts and cities across the country.
