Central Asian Association of Narcologists to be established in Samarkand

The establishment of the headquarters of the Central Asian Association of Narcologists in Samarkand was announced at a global forum that opened on April 20. The forum, titled “Combating Transnational Drug Threats to Ensure Public Health and Safety,” is being held in the city.

The announcement was included in an address by Shavkat Mirziyoyev to forum participants, which was read out by Saida Mirziyoyeva.

The address highlighted key initiatives aimed at strengthening the fight against drug abuse, protecting young people, expanding international cooperation, and introducing modern digital and financial monitoring mechanisms to prevent the spread of narcotic substances. It also emphasized that Uzbekistan is actively cooperating with more than 50 countries and leading international organizations in this area.

In his message, the president noted the emergence of new types of synthetic drugs and stressed the need to establish a permanent platform for dialogue. He proposed creating the Central Asian Association of Narcologists to facilitate the exchange of experience in the medical rehabilitation of people with substance use disorders, with its headquarters based in Samarkand.

The address also proposed developing a special program to expand economic opportunities and create jobs in regions with a high risk of drug trafficking.
