Sindorov named Uzbekistan’s Best Chess Player of the Year

Javohir Sindorov has been recognized as Uzbekistan’s best male chess player of 2025, the press service of the Uzbekistan Chess Federation reported.
Over the past year, Sindorov achieved a major success by winning the Chess World Cup held in Goa, India. He advanced confidently to the final of the tournament, where he defeated Chinese grandmaster Wei Yi in the decisive match to claim the World Cup title.
Following this achievement, Javohir Sindorov was awarded a presidential gift by President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev in the form of a three-room apartment. His coaches also received cash awards.
In addition, Sindorov was conferred the honorary title of “Honored Athlete of the Republic of Uzbekistan.”
Meanwhile, Umida Omonova was named Uzbekistan’s best female chess player of 2025.
Earlier, it was reported that the International Chess Federation (FIDE) and Freestyle Chess Operations GmbH had reached an agreement to hold the first official Freestyle Chess World Championship, in which Uzbek grandmaster Javohir Sindorov is also expected to take part.
