An engineer at the Andijan regional branch of Hududiy Elektr Tarmoqlari JSC demanded $15,000 from an entrepreneur in exchange for reducing an alleged debt. This was reported by the State Security Service.
According to the report, the engineer told an individual entrepreneur operating a rice-drying workshop in Andijan district that 650 million soums in damages had been calculated under an official report on illegal use of electricity. He then allegedly demanded $15,000 in exchange for reducing the amount to 40 million soums.
He was detained with material evidence while receiving $10,000 of the requested money.
A criminal case has been opened over the incident, and investigative actions are underway.
Earlier, a chief specialist of the regional department of the State Assets Management Agency was detained with $15,000 in Andijan Region.
