In 2025, Uzbek courts acquitted nearly 422 individuals, the Supreme Court of the Republic of Uzbekistan reported during a press conference held yesterday, February 4. The announcement was made by Alisher Usmonov, First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Court and Chair of the Criminal Chamber.

According to the report, in 2025 alone, 422 people were acquitted, and over 24 billion Uzbek soums in material and moral damages were ordered to be compensated from the state budget in their favor.

In addition, unfounded additional charges were removed or amended for 15,992 individuals.

Moreover, 8,085 individuals were released directly from court, while 35,572 were conditionally released before serving their full sentences.

In the same year, 135,130 individuals were exempted from criminal and administrative liability due to mutual reconciliation, thereby being cleared of a criminal record.

Of all convicted individuals in 2025, totaling 63,340, 30 percent were sentenced to imprisonment, while 70 percent received alternative punishments.

It is worth noting that earlier, a customs officer in Qashqadaryo, who had been unjustly imprisoned 19 years ago, was acquitted.
