On April 6, the U.S.-Uzbekistan Business and Investment Council officially began its work in Washington, D.C. This was announced by Saida Mirziyoyeva, Head of the Administration of the President of Uzbekistan, on her Telegram channel.
According to the statement, the council is intended to create a solid institutional foundation for joint business initiatives. The meeting was attended by Saida Mirziyoyeva, US Special Envoy for South and Central Asia Ambassador Sergio Gor, and Komil Allamjonov, counselor-envoy at Uzbekistan’s embassy in the United States and representative of the Presidential Administration in the country.
“The U.S.-Uzbekistan Business and Investment Council, established to strengthen ties between the business communities of our countries, has officially begun its work in Washington. The council is aimed at creating a strong institutional basis for joint business initiatives. At the conclusion of the meeting, a memorandum of understanding was signed,” Mirziyoyeva wrote.
It was noted that the establishment of the council was made possible by the high level of trust that has developed between the presidents of the two countries, Donald Trump and Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
“As Council Co-Chair Ambassador Sergio Gor emphasized, over the past year the United States has demonstrated in practice its firm commitment to strengthening strategic partnership in Central Asia,” the statement said.
It should be recalled that President Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the United States on November 6-7, 2025. During the visit, he held talks with US President Donald Trump and took part in the C5+1 summit of the leaders of the Central Asian states and the United States. Following that visit, the U.S.-Uzbekistan Business and Investment Council was established. On the Uzbek side, it is co-chaired by Saida Mirziyoyeva, while on the US side it is headed by Sergio Gor. Komil Allamjonov was appointed counselor-envoy at Uzbekistan’s embassy in the United States and as the Presidential Administration’s representative there.
It is worth noting that before the meeting formally began, Saida Mirziyoyeva also met with Sergio Gor in Washington on April 6.
