In Andijan region, an internal affairs officer and a university manager were detained for accepting a bribe after promising to improve a fellow student’s exam grades. The Ministry of Internal Affairs reported the incident.
According to the report, an officer of the Andijan Regional Department of Internal Affairs learned that his coursemate had received low scores in trial exams and entered into discussions aimed at obtaining material gain. He demanded 2.7 million soum in exchange for arranging higher grades without the student having to retake the exams, allegedly through a university dean.
However, the student reported the unlawful actions of the officer to the Andijan regional branch of the Ministry of Internal Affairs’ Main Department of Internal Security, providing a detailed account of the situation. During an оператив оператив operation conducted by internal security officers, the rank-and-file officer of the Andijan Regional Department of Internal Affairs was detained while receiving the money from his coursemate.
Subsequently, the officer requested that the operation be continued and disclosed the involvement of another individual in the scheme—namely, a university employee born in 2001 who worked as a manager and had promised to arrange favorable grades. He stated that the demanded funds were intended for this person. Based on the complaint, the operation was extended, and the university employee was detained while receiving 2.5 million soum, with material evidence seized and the relevant procedural documents drawn up.
It was reported that, by an official order of the Andijan Regional Department of Internal Affairs, the rank-and-file officer was dismissed from the internal affairs bodies in accordance with subparagraph “a” of paragraph 144 of the Regulation “On the Procedure for Service in the Internal Affairs Bodies of the Republic of Uzbekistan.” A pre-investigation inquiry is currently under way based on the collected materials.
It is worth noting that earlier, a senior operative of the Operational Search Service of the Khorezm Regional Department of Internal Affairs was detained in Khiva while receiving $30,000 for promising to secure permits through officials working in government bodies to build a residential house on a 12-sotix land plot allocated for agricultural purposes.
