A man was detained in Khanabad city of Andijan region while allegedly attempting to sell counterfeit money to a citizen of a neighbouring country for $3,520 in genuine currency. The Customs Committee reported this.
According to the committee, during an operation aimed at preventing the illegal circulation of counterfeit currency, a Kyrgyz citizen was caught with material evidence while selling fake $8,700 to a controlled buyer for $3,520 in real US dollars.
Preliminary inquiries found that the counterfeit currency had been illegally brought into Uzbekistan from the Kyrgyz Republic.
A criminal case has been opened against the citizen, and investigative actions are underway.
Earlier, it was reported that an Uzbek citizen had been detained in Kyrgyzstan for selling counterfeit money.
