We have planted 200 million saplings – Shavkat Mirziyoyev

Today, April 1, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev is taking part in a tree-planting event held within the framework of the nationwide “Yashil Makon” project. This was reported by Presidential Press Secretary Sherzod Asadov.

“Our people have long had the good tradition of planting saplings and flowers with noble intentions during Navruz, at the birth of a child, in household plots, in public squares and parks, and along roadsides.

For the past five years, building on these values that are deeply rooted in our people, we have been implementing the nationwide ‘Yashil Makon’ project and planting 200 million saplings every year,” Mirziyoyev said.

According to the report, over the past period, 942 green gardens and public parks, as well as “New Uzbekistan” parks in 47 residential areas, have been created on more than 2,000 hectares of land. In the country’s mountains, deserts, and foothill areas, forests have been established on 256,000 hectares.

Protective green forest cover has been created on 2 million hectares of the dried bed of the Aral Sea.

To prevent the harmful effects of wind and sand-dust storms, a 60-kilometer “green belt” has been formed in 33 districts.
