The bodies of an Uzbek student who drowned in the city of Sozopol, Bulgaria, along with five other Uzbek citizens who died in Turkey, have been repatriated to Uzbekistan. The Consulate General of Uzbekistan in Istanbul reported the development.

According to the consulate, in addition to handling the repatriation of the deceased, assistance was provided to 12 Uzbek citizens who had incurred significant debts while undergoing medical treatment in hospitals. Discounts were arranged, and practical support was given for their return to Uzbekistan.

Furthermore, the consulate extended help to 27 citizens who had been left without documents in Turkey, ensuring that the necessary paperwork was processed.

It is worth noting that on August 7 of this year, it was reported that a 22-year-old Uzbek student was swept away while swimming with friends in the city of Sozopol, Bulgaria. Two days later, on August 9, his body was recovered from beneath large underwater rocks. The student’s body had become trapped among massive boulders, making it impossible to retrieve. After nine hours of search operations, it was not rescue workers but the student’s Uzbek, Kyrgyz, and Moldovan friends who eventually found him beneath the rocks.
