Environmental damage from electric fishing triggers legal action (video)

In the Peshku district of the Bukhara region, individuals who illegally caught fish using electric fishing rods—causing environmental damage estimated at 3.5 billion soums—have been apprehended. This was reported by the regional Department of Ecology.

According to the report, a control raid was conducted by the operational group of the Bukhara Regional Department of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change at the first contour of the Karakyr natural reservoir. During the raid, two residents of the Peshku district were found to have illegally caught 168 crucian carp, 10 bream, and 1 additional crucian carp using electric fishing rods.

As a result of this violation, a total of 3 billion 532 million 500 thousand soums in material damage was caused to the environment. A criminal case has been initiated by the prosecutor's office, and investigative proceedings are currently underway. Further information will be provided as the case develops.

It is worth noting that earlier, a case of illegal fishing was also recorded in the Orta Chirchik district of the Tashkent region, where damage to nature was estimated at 41 million soums.
