New regulations establishing administrative liability for violations of metro and railway safety standards have been adopted in Uzbekistan. The amendments were approved on February 5 and introduce penalties for individuals and officials who fail to comply with movement and transport safety requirements.
Under the new rules, violations of safety protocols in railway transport and the metro can result in fines up to 10 times the base calculation unit (BCU). Officials who deliberately conceal information about such incidents are also subject to the same penalty.
Additional provisions impose fines equivalent to three times the BCU for violations in road transport, including transporting passengers without the required permit, overcharging fares, failing to follow approved schedules, or deviating from approved routes.
The law will take effect three months after its official publication.
Previously, Uzbekistan had introduced administrative warnings for certain traffic violations. This new legislation strengthens enforcement and ensures stricter accountability for transport safety breaches.
