15-year-old boy jumps to his death in Fergana after texting with girlfriend

On January 13 this year, a ninth-grade student identified as R.Y. died by suicide in Fergana city after jumping from the roof of the eight-story apartment building where he lived. The information was confirmed to QALAMPIR.UZ by Hayot Shamsutdinov, spokesperson for the Prosecutor General’s Office.

According to the report, the boy’s mother left for the Russian Federation on December 25, 2025, leaving him in the care of his uncle along with his siblings. On January 13, the teenager went up to the roof of the eight-story building and jumped, resulting in his death. Preliminary investigative findings indicate that prior to the incident, the boy had been exchanging SMS messages with a girl he liked.

A rapid response investigative team consisting of officers from the Fergana City Department of Internal Affairs and the прокуратура arrived at the scene. A pre-investigation inquiry is currently underway.

It is worth noting that earlier, a 20-year-old student in Bukhara died by suicide after leaving a note.
