Interviews

Many are aware of the incident that took place on 25 November in Buvayda district, Fergana region. Ahrorjon Niyozov, an inspector at the National Committee for Ecology and Climate Change, attempted to perform his legal duties to prevent illegal tree cutting in the district. However, he was reportedly grabbed by the deputy hokim of the district, Saidali Khizirov, physically restrained, and removed from the scene with the assistance of other officials.

The incident quickly spread across social media, sparking widespread discussion. Following the public attention, the deputy hokim was dismissed from his position, and a criminal case was initiated against him. Given the ongoing importance of environmental issues, the occurrence of such an incident is particularly troubling.
